Being a nontraditional student has its challenges. Its setbacks. Its frustrations. But it’s not without insight and with enough tenacity, its progress.
And so, with the hope of sharing these insights, and realizing more of said progress, I am so excited to share with you my learning portfolio, Due Dillon·gence! In addition to the small showcase of my previous and current work there, I’ll be adding and improving as I go along, sharing insights and inspirations along the way through an emailed newsletter.
Some, but by no means all of the topics I plan to cover include:
-picking up creativity after several years of other responsibilities.
-transitioning from physical art to digital art and the learning curve.
-Art, in its entirety. I want to learn about the masters, both ancient and contemporary, and share what delight I find. I want to improve, for my own satisfaction, but also so I can share. So I can free the many many scenes and figures that float around in my imagination and simply better understand life. Perhaps sharing a meaningful expression and offering the world something small in return for all the wonder it’s given me.
-Music practice. recording videos of progress, editing them together. Covering artists I admire to learn from them and find my own voice. Eventually get back to the composing I used to do. Who knows?
-learning about using ones voice in today’s landscape with essays, written and podcasted, social media, emailing, ssl, integrations SEO practices and why they matter, funneling, tracking, analytics and all the other topics I don’t even know I don’t know yet.
And finally and most importantly: Humility. I want to have the courage to be garbage. Then mediocre. Then slightly better. Then eventually, perhaps something even noteworthy. Feel free to stop in and see the site, and stay updated from right in your inbox.
Until next time,
Maria Dillon
